What inspired this project ?
This project is for Dover area musicians and has been particularly inspired by young musicians that I have had the privilege of teaching. Musicians have asked me many times for a practice facility where they can gather together and play.
This facility has been built to high professional standards and is something Dover can be proud of, carrying of course important safety certificates etc.
Here I could write many pages on the value of music. It will suffice to say that music helps every one of us in a multitude of ways.
I am fortunate to have been trained by fine professionals covering the piano/ accompanying, singing and the pipe organ. I am very happy to give advice to those that would like it. Indeed, it is sometimes possible for me to gain support towards pupils having music lessons.
Recently, I relinquished my position of Director of Music at Dover Grammar School for Boys in order to go part time at the school. This enables me to give more time to helping people with their music in the Dover community.
For those who have read to this point you will understand that music has been my life, and since leaving university with an honours degree in music and gaining professional teaching qualifications, I have enjoyed and been most fulfilled during the last 35 years by helping people of all ages and performing around the world.
My musical experience to date is as an accompanist (inc. BBC Young Musician of the Year), conducting (orchestral and choirs..my choirs have sang here and abroad, including some of the most famous cathedrals), Organ Recitalist (International), also massive experience as a teacher both in schools and privately.
I would like to conclude by saying that I would like to see all genres of music being taken up by all ages across the Dover community.
